Go stand and speak in the temples of the people all the words of this life. Verse twenty-eight, saying, Did not we straightly command you that ye should not teach in this name, and behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us, this man's blood. verse thirty eight and now I say unto you refrain from these men and let them alone for this counsel or this work be of men it will come to not for it be of God ye cannot overthrow it lest happily be found even to fight against God chapter nine and verse two for the final one Let's begin with verse one. And Saul, yet breathing out correct things and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, and desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogue that if he found any of this way, as the fifth expression, this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem. You were noticing last week emphasizing this name and these five points that we've been mentioning, reading, have been the cause not only in the beginning of the church's history, but up to the present time. If you read throughout the Dark Ages, you'll find that these are the five points. the five things that have caused bitter persecution against the church, the people of God. This name, as we pointed out last week, the Jews, they thought, so much of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. They were the names that they revered and the names that they received. But here's a new name. Here's a challenge to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The name of Jesus Christ. of Nazareth. They had to choose, and they chose Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and they said concerning Christ, crucify him, we'll not have this man to reign over us. As we pointed out, the twenty times in the book of the Acts, you have this name mentioned. And so this name is the all-sufficient name. It is the only name. by which a person can be saved. We notice that in verse twelve of that chapter, chapter four. There is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. No other name. And what a wonderful name that is. It's the great necessity. Man's great necessity is to be saved. And there's none other name under heaven, given among men whereby he must. He must be saved. There's that divine imperative. He wants to go. We were speaking on the musts in John's Gospel. He must be born again. Christ must be lifted up. And that's true, friend. Here's a divine imperative. You're going to be saved. There's only one way you can be safe. And this is the great necessity of the human race to be safe, unless you want to be lost. You bring in the story of the Fifteenth of Luke in this connection. Why must I be saved? Because I'm a lost sheep, just like the sheep in the Fifteenth of Luke. I must be saved because I'm helpless. I'm like the lost piece of silver. I must be saved because I'm hopeless. I'm like the prodigal in the far country. Then you have the great possibility. Yes, we must be saved. Do we ever expect to be in heaven? And what a wonderful possibility I can be saved. I can know all my sins forgiven. I can know I have everlasting life. I can know with every assurance. available given in the Scripture, that I am a child of God. I have peace with God. I'll be with them like Christ forever. This is a great possibility. Sometimes you speak of a person and they think they're going to inherit a lot of money, but they say there's a small possibility. I wish they were greater. But there's a possibility I won't give. But friend, here is a great possibility. And once you have Christ, you have all that's embraced in that one word, save. Save from the sins of the past. Save by his power by sins of the present. And save eventually from death and from death. What a wonderful word that... words say it is. The great possibility, again going back to the fiftieth of Luke, pardon for the past that son, the prodigal son got there. Pardon for the past. How wonderful to know that all your sins have been blotted out. God remembers them against you no more forever. Then I have power for the present. There's a piece of silver. symbolic of the Holy Spirit. I have power over temptation. I have that quality that enables me to rise above trials and temptations and sorrow and griefs. And it's only by the Holy Spirit do I have that power. Then we have peace for the future. Here you have the sheep. And when the shepherd puts the sheep upon his shoulder after he finds it, he takes it home to the fold. And Psalm twenty-three where it begins, The Lord is my shepherd. It concludes the house of the Lord forever. That's peace for the future. As we look out upon this present world, there's not much peace. In other words, you have little pieces. to build upon a little foundation that we're going to have lasting peace. Regardless of the presence at sea in his trip to China to bring about better relationship between that great country, China, with a streaming million and our country, and if they come about or be able to develop a measure of peace, it won't be for long. True peace is found only in Christ. And waters for the future are rough, and only when Christ comes will He establish a kingdom where there will be peace. No war, but peace. And so we have peace those of us who were saved, and that peace is found in Christ and Christ alone. Then you have the great provision God has provided something for you. Here you have provision in this name. There's none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. Christ's death for my part, his present life for my power, and his presence within by his Holy Spirit, this gives me peace. The great opportunity. Have I an opportunity? Yes. Notice these two words. Under heaven. Through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins. And in this name, all who wish to be saved is to those who are under heaven. There's none other name under heaven whereby we must be saved. You've got to be saved on earth. There's no salvation in heaven. No salvation in hell, but under heaven. The Son of Man hath power on earth to forgive sin. And if ever you're going to be saved, it's going to be here in this life. In hell they desire a drop of water to cool their parted pond up low. And if no salvation wants you to reach for glory, it must be settled upon earth. For the angels that sing are cast out and there's no hope for the angels. Here's the place to be saved right here in this world. And this great opportunity is yours this morning. This salvation is offered to all. It's available to all. It's sufficient to all. You need nothing else. The salvation is found in this name. There is none other name. only one source of information concerning salvation through this name, and that's your Bible. I suppose some of you read this little piece of paper or this little item that was in your paper. Love comes to all the name. Did you read it? On this group says, the belief. If that's what you want to call it, said Jerry, it is not a religion, It does not have a dogma or theology. The spiritual leaders of this group frequently refer to the Bible passages, but say, love has no relation to the Bible. This kind of love they're trying to propagate, they brought it to Albany. I'm sure Albany will change after this is here. Love members feel that one must be in touch with one's understanding. and goes around them to have this love. What a lot of confluence. A better understanding of yourself and of others. There's been no need for Christ coming into this world if man could have developed, cultivated his own love. The love that that group has has no connection with the Bible and the Abyss. And friend, if you want the word If you want divine authority for the love that God has, and it will satisfy all who receive the personification of this love, the Lord Jesus Christ, on the basis of God's word, you've got the only true love. The love that lasts, and that's the love of God, which is shed abroad in our heart by the Holy Spirit, which is given unto us. And so the only source of real information relative to love is found in the Bible. And only one plea on that plea is the Lord Jesus Christ. And only one way, we read that in chapter nine and verse two, that's only one way. And only one means to obtain this wonderful salvation. That is by faith. And so your Bible is very emphatic about these things. No other name, no other way, no other foundation, no other God, no other message, but the message of the gospel. No other true life, true life. We were speaking on that last week. Light. True life. How wonderful this life is. This life. Have you known something of this life, this true life, this lasting life, this holy life, this happy life, this peaceful life, this joyful life, this victorious life, this unending life? You know what? It's spiritual. It's not tangible. It's not material. No, this life is a growing life. It's a God-given life. Christ is the source of it. And it cannot be stolen. It cannot be burned. It cannot be drowned. This life. This life. Speak all words of this life, God told them. As he saw them, they were released from the jail. Now go. The angel informed them and speak all the words of this life. He wasn't talking about their literal life, their physical life, beautiful on the earth, a span of possibly fifty, sixty, seventy, or eighty years. No, he said this life is referring to this life that's in Christ Jesus. This life that cannot be touched nor tarnished with anything in this life, this other life. This life which is in Christ Jesus, he that hath the Son hath light. Then we come to the third text that I want to emphasize, this man's blood. I might say, seeing this as the middle expression of the pie, this was the most offensive to those men. It's stung them to the heart. This man's blood. Do you intend to bring upon us this man's blood? Do you mean to tell us that we are guilty of this man's blood? Yes, Peter says, we are guilty of this man's blood. What a man he was. Not the blood of an angel. For angels do not have organisms. Not the blood of an animal that was shed in the Old Testament times. but of blood, the blood of a man, this man, the Son of God, the servant of God, the sacrifice of God, the Lamb of God, this man's blood. There's a lot of blood given these days, transfuses, some very rare species of blood. Some types are very common. Others are uncaught. Only about a month ago, I read in the paper where a man was flown right across the continent from out on the West Coast, the East Coast, to give his blood, a pint of his blood, to a person during the East Coast who needed blood. And this was a very, very rare and scarce type of blood. But I'll tell you, the rarest blood of all is the blood of this. The other blood may give physical life, but this is the only blood that will give spiritual life. Man's blood may be given to save bodies. This blood was given to save souls, the blood of this man. Not his birth, not his life, not his miracles, but his blood. that's why he came into this world to shed his blood. You know anything about this blood. This blood is divine, it's sinless. That's why it's so rare. No other man has sinless blood. His blood is tainted with sin. But here's a man on the blood that coursed through his veins was sinless blood. Pure blood, precious blood, this is the blood that God wants you to trust for your soul's salvation. Precious to the Father who gave the Son. This blood is precious to the Son, for he laid down his life. This blood is precious to the Holy Spirit because he applies it to the heart of the believer. This blood is precious to all of us who are saved. We've trusted it. We know its power is efficacy to give us peace of mind and conscience and cleanse our souls. This blood is so penetrating it can reach back into the past and get my first sin and reach into the future and get my final sin and blanket my life and put all my sins away. It can go down to the depths and bring up my unclean sin. It can reach to the heights and reach my little sins that I call them. Well, oh, they're all sin. And this blood is able to embrace all my sin and put them away. The blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son, cleansed us from A-L-L, all sin. All sin. Isn't it rare blood? the blood of this man. The one God selected, the one that was slaved, the one that now stands at God's right hand, or he's seen standing in the book of Revelation chapter five. He's the one that does the saving, and he's the one that will do the sentencing in a day to come. Yes, there he stands in Revelation five. a slain lamp standing. And in that coming day when Jesus Christ will take the title deeds of this earth out of the hands of the polish who is seated upon the throne and he begins to open those seals and execute the contents of them, then they shall sing, thou art worthy, for thou was slain as redeemed by thy blood. out of every kindred tongue and calamity. He'll do the sentencing in that day. He's saving today, but he'll sentence sinners through a lost eternity in that coming day. Seven horns and seven eyes, the seven horns speak of power. Concentrated power like a bull. Weighing a tongue concentrates all his power into his horns when he charged. Jesus Christ has seven horns, perfect, complete power. Seven eyes, perception, perfect understanding. He knows everything. He knows all about you. No man can be his counselor. He needs no cabinet, no advisers. He's perfect in his judgment. No mistakes. All his decisions are right. all his conclusions are correct holy this man can say that and be that this man's blood i asked you this morning do you know anything about it this man's blood and the priest says you intend to bring this man's blood upon us because this man's blood wiped away all that Judaism had in the way of sacrifice, meaning that all the blood that flowed from Jewish altars was in vain. It didn't accomplish what this blood accomplishes. That blood, the blood of the Jewish altars, covered over sin, but here's a blood that can put sin away forever. I think you have three wonderful pictures of the sacrifice of Christ in your Bible as seen in three mountain peaks. Here you have Abraham and his growing up Mount Moriah. And here you have Calvary Chippewa. And you know how Abraham built the altar, laid his son Isaac upon it, and took a knife who was about to plunge it into the breast of his son When God stayed that hand in mid-air, answered they not thy hand upon the land. There was a substitute found for Isaac in Ego that was nearby. There you had Calvary typified. There was no substitute for Jesus Christ. He was deemed substitute. No one took his place, but he took my place. So you have Calvary to purify. Then in Mount Calvary you have him crucified. And then in Revelation you have him glorified. Mount Zion Revelation fourteen and one. These three, Mount Mount Moriah, Christ in his sacrifice to purify. Mount Calvary Christ crucified. And Revelation fourteen and one, Mount Zion, Christ crucified. glory God. Yes, this man, this man's blood. Christ was the land slain from the foundation of the world, and that blood will be effective until God is through with his feelings of the human race. Then that blood will no longer be available or effective in the salvation of men. It will be the theme of our song for our eternity. This man's twenty eight times you find the lamb spoken of in the Revelation and at the time of the Passover approximately two hundred and sixty thousand lambs were slayed at the sacrifices two hundred and fifty six thousand I think on one occasion one year two hundred and fifty six thousand lambs slayed on the Passover other years more, other years less, depending upon the number of the nation. And think through of other sacrifices. You think of the five offerings, you have the burnt offering, the feast offering, you have also the trespass offering and the sin offering. In the book of Leviticus brought before us all the blood that was shed at those offerings. You have the Israelites with their individual sin, bringing their individual sacrifices and offering them up. You have the free will offerings that were brought. And when you think of Solomon's temple, when a hundred and twenty thousand sheep were slain just with the dedication of Solomon's staff, rivers of blood flowed in the Old Testament. Not all the blood of bulls on Jewish altars slain to give the guilty conscience peace or wash away one's stay. For Christ the heavenly land took all my sins away, a sacrifice of no longer name, on better blood than they. Let me ask you then, have you been to the altar, and witness the land burnt wholly to ashes for me, from what the sweet incense ascending on high, accepted, O father, might he, This is the only blood God accepts. And he'll accept you on the value and merit of this blood, where you'll not be accepted at all. This man's blood is the only passport of him and the only mistake of death. Your good life, your good works are an abomination to God. Man's love is what God wants you to have as your ticket to the Lord. Nothing else amounts to anything in your life. This is the price that's paid for every soul that is saved. This is the price of the church. You read that in Acts. The blood of God. The church which he has purchased. Purchased by the blood of God. Imagine, here you have his deity. The Spirit of God fused his humanity and his deity in this birth. Ah, yes, the very blood of God. This is the only blood that God will recognize and accept. Are you trusting in that blood this morning? I trust you all. It's the only thing that will give you acceptance before God. And I trust you to trust it, if you haven't done so already. This will be the theme of your song throughout eternity. This man's life. Then the this way, when I skip over this work, possibly we'll take that up tonight. This way, here is the Apostle Paul, and he's reading out repnings and slaughter upon the church. Now he's going to receive letters from the authorities that will enable him to arrest any man, any woman, any boy, any girl that is in this way and has been put to death this way. My what a wonderful way. This name, yes, how wonderful that name is. and also this light, how wonderful this light is. This man's blood, how precious, how rich, how rare is this blood, this familiar fluid that flows through Emmanuel's veins. Ah, yes, this is it. This man's blood, blood this way. There is a world, the old woman, Christ says, I am the way, the truth, and the like. No man comes unto the Father but by me. He's not a way, one of many. He's not part of the way. He's all the way. When you have Christ, it means you're going right to heaven. He is the way, all the way, not halfway. always. Christ is the way. He did not come to work to show us the way. He didn't come to make a way. He himself is the way, for he that hath the Son, that life. Of course we have to vindicate the righteousness of God, vindicate God's character laying down his life, that God's throne might be cleared, And God might be just on the justifier of him that believeth in you. But Jesus Christ is Dewey. And he couldn't present himself to you or to me, a Dewey, until he first of all went to the clock and received in his hands deep inside the scourge of Waldocus' shame. He is Dewey. All of you find any of this way. They hold a button to them with death. Man is lost. He must have a way. The poor sheep, that's a strange thing. Other animals can find their way home. They seem to have that instinct, like crying pigeons or racing pigeons. And as someone mentioned yesterday, we saw a dog out the back and it was sniffing in the air, straining, trying to get the scent of the lech and dogs. You do that. What if you've got a sheep with you? Strange that may seem, it'll go further astray, further astray. There's no more animal more foolish than the sheep, unless you're into a man. Man is so. Man's got intelligence. He knows he's got a soul that needs to be saved. Yet he's not in a hurry to get it saved when he stays daily with the risk of losing his soul and losing it forever. So man is lost, but man is trying to find the way back. All we like sheep have gone astray, we've turned everyone to his own way. Oh, say some, I can find the way to heaven by my good life. I can find my way to heaven by joining the church. I can get on that way by giving a lot of my money to the good cause. Yes, I can find the way. No, you can. You cannot do that. Unless you come to thanks. Christ is the way. As for God, this way is for There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof is the way of death. But here's the way. And you can make a mistake. There's no error here, none whatsoever, if you have Christ. You have the way. He is. You know all are not going to the same place. with the broad bay and the narrow you read about over in Matthew, wide as the gates and broad as the bay that lead us to destruction, and many there be within the ramp. Straight as the gate, narrow as the way that lead us unto life, and to there be that find it. While I am preaching here this morning all over the United States there are men telling men and women, If you do the best you can, if you line up with this church, you'll be a loyal member, and become active and involved in our activities, you'll be all right. Oh, yes, they're telling them all kinds of ways to heaven, leaving out the one and only way. And God says, they'll come when they will curse that man. He that will pull the corn, the people will curse him. and corn is a symbol of Christ the corn of which has penned the ground inside. The time will come when these people who are deceived will curse the man who deceived them. For if the blind means the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. How sincere we should be in the presentation of the truth of God. How earnest! This is solemn. Human souls are involved. They tell someone the wrong way to go north or south or east and west. If they're wanting to travel, many a time I've been misled, make mistakes have been made. Either the man made it or I misunderstood him. Of course, I was able to get back on the road. That's not the salvation. When your pointing precious souls away to heaven, That's serious. You better be sure you know the way yourself. And if you know what this book says about the way. Very little said in the New Testament about heaven. About heaven, that's right. Only one chapter really takes it up. What the Lord referred to once in Christ life in the fourteenth of John. Very little is said about heaven itself and what it's like. but the whole lot is said about how to get there. The major part of your New Testament is taken up with how to get there. But God says you'll have all eternity of seeing and experience what's in heaven. My concern is that you're sure about how you're getting there. And the Bible's very clear. It's only the one way. One way. Christ. Christ is that straight and not a way. There's no crookedness here. No deception here. He's the way. He's clear. And it's certain. The very fact of being narrow indicates if you are traveling it. Yes. If you were to take all the church members as valid, being a member of the church, will take to their glory than to be the majority going to heaven, because the majority of people have got some kind of a relation or profession. But this verse tells me only of two are going to heaven. They are the ones who are on the narrow way, that lead upon the land. The way to heaven is wrong. It's wrong. It's wrong. We'll amount to you. The way to heaven is narrow. Only one gearing there, a little group here, a little group there. Five pairs are going on. There's now the ways of God. After death, it's too late to find the children of your life. You've got to find it out before you leave it. But you're with the few on the way to heaven. So he's the day This way is too narrow for the drunkards, too narrow for the thieves, too narrow for the liars, too narrow for the crowds, too narrow for the self-righteous, too narrow for the unconverted church member, too narrow for the adulterous. This narrow is too narrow for those I've mentioned in many more. It's only trod by those who are born again. They are in Christ. They're sealed by the Spirit. They've been washed in His blood. They have everlasting blood. This is the way. No men are past. No men are ground. They say they're up or down. Death or life. Heaven or hell. The narrow way or the broader. This is what the Bible says. Christ says, I am the way, the truth, and the love. And the Apostle Paul was to apprehend everyone who was off this way and apprehend them and have them put in jail. I wonder, friend, if you know what is to be on this way, in this way, that heatheth on the land. I trust if you don't, that you will. So we've come to some of these points. Four of them we'd like to speak on the other tonight. This name, have you bowed to this name? This life, do you possess this life? This life, as it washed you from your sins, and this work, are you a part of it, the work of the Holy Spirit, and this way? Are you on this way? Are you in this way that leadeth unto life? You know the glorious message of the gospel falls like rain upon the thirsty earth. But that same rain can bring forth priors and thorns. The Bible tells you that. And here it is in Hebrews six. For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh off upon it. and bringeth forth herbsmeet for them by whom in his threats receiveeth blessing from God, for that which beareth thorns and briars is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing whose end is to be burned. Solemn, isn't it, the word of God coming down like dew on the moon grass, or like the rain upon the thirsty pasture, Some sit and listen to the gospel and they drink it in. Their hearts are hard and thirsty. They drink it in. Others say, no, I'm not going to accept it. And instead of bringing forth fruit, they bring forth forms and bribes. Forms of rebellion and bribes of resentment. The message has that two-fold effect. And you know, God's people have that two-fold influence. I thought of this as I read that text this week, and here it is in Second Corinthians two, fifteen, for we are unto God a sweet savor of Christ in men that are saved, and in them that perish, to the one we, Christians, are the savor of death unto death. And to the other the savor of life unto life. And who is sufficient to release her? You are born again Christian. Your life is a savor of Christ. And that means there's benefit in that life. Life unto life. Others may be influenced by your godly consistency of the earth. But they can also reject. your godly consistent behavior. And if they do, it's then unto death. It's solemn to be a Christian. Because your life can either mean heaven or hell with someone who looks upon you. Your life may have the sweet fragrance and savor of Christ, and people say, I want it. I want them. I want what he's got. I want what she's got. I love that, man. Or in your heart you can say, no, I don't want it. I resent it. I reject it. That God in life will be a savor of death unto death. And throughout eternity you'll not only remember that Christ you rejected, the words of God that you spurned, but that Christian influence that you saw. You'll regret it forever and forever. Dead. On to death. These are not my words. These are the words of the living God. And so to the sinner. It'll mean condemnation. Increase guilt. And final punishment. But to the Christian. Those who are saved. It means new life. Development. in this light and it means light everlasting. What's it going to mean to you this morning? What is this message going to mean to you? Have you bowed the knee to this name? Because remember the days coming when God says every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. At that name every knee shall bow. that the tongue shall confess. Have you vowed your knee, your proud knee, to this day? And say, Lord, I'll submit to your rule, your sway. I'll bow to you. And I'll bow to you. But I don't want to bow to you and set you. Feel something of this inner light, so solid, so sure within your heart, I've got life, the very life of Christ himself. He is my life. And his precious blood, this man's blood, rare and it rich, this blood that confends from all sin. I'm trusting it. My conscience has been purged by this blood. And I part of this glorious work that's being carried on by the Spirit of God, this work and this way. Yes, I'm in the way of life. I'm on the way. Christ is my companion on the way, the narrow way, leaving up to life, up to heaven. Leadeth unto eternal life. What are you going to do? You stand at the crossroads this morning. These five things cause a bitter persecution in the early church. and they've caused persecution in the church to this day. These very five things are contested in Christendom and detested by all martyrs. They don't want this name, His supreme authority. They do not want this life. They do not want this blood, having... books, hymn books today, with every reference of the blood of Christ omitted this man's blood, this man's blood. And this wonderful work that began nineteen hundred years ago and is still going on. The work of the Spirit of God, calling out a people for his name. And then, beyond this way, the narrow way, Be it ultimate. You may not have all the company that you have on the Broadway, all the society on the Broadway, but I'll tell you one thing. It'll be the twos and the threes that are on the narrow way, and Christ is where two or three are gathered together in my name. They are to mine, and this is to them. For few, this is the word. Thank you. Our Father in heaven, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we come unto thee. We ask thy blessing upon thy precious word. We thank thee for its authority. We thank thee, Father, for the person that we're able to present into human beings, souls, and spend eternity either in heaven or in hell. Grant that someone this morning, They make Christ his choice, or her choice, and settle this matter at once and for all by glory. And they're good. We ask it in our Savior's name. Amen. So we sing two hundred and forty-two, our favorite hymn. Out of my bondage, sorrow and night, Jesus I come, Jesus, I come into thy freedom, gladness, and light. Jesus, son, it comes to thee if you have come to Christ during the meeting. For we would like to be saved, if we can have you, we would be delighted to do so. We stand and sing with him, make your request known on your decision.
