Moments of Melody Time, five minutes to help you begin your day. There was an elderly woman who, because of her frailty, was alone a great part of the day. Once she was asked, what do you do with the many lonesome hours? Smiling and with a twinkle in her eyes, she joyfully replied, Lonesome? Oh, no, not at all, for I just get my hymn book out and have a little hymn of praise to the Lord. Then I get out my Bible and let the Lord speak to me. When I'm tired of reading and I can't sing anymore, I just sit still and let the Lord love me." Friends, it's a wonderful thing to rest in the Lord, and above all to be thankful for being that way. I found a friend when life seemed not worth living. I found a friend so tender and forgiving. I can't confuse how hurt a thing could be, but be the My faith in him is growing. He's ever near, and his love is always growing. I have no fear, my worldly cares are few. I can depend on him to see me through. I found a friend and he is your friend through. Now we're going to read from St. Paul's letter to the Philippians. Yes, and I look upon everything as loss compared with the overwhelming gain of knowing Christ Jesus, my Lord. For his sake I did, in actual fact, suffer the loss of everything, but I consider it useless rubbish compared with being able to win Christ. For now my place is in him, and I am not dependent upon any of the self-achieved righteousness of the law. God has given me that genuine righteousness which comes from faith in Christ. How changed are my ambitions. Now I long to know Christ and the power shown by His resurrection. Now I long to share His suffering, even to die as He died, so that I may perhaps attain as He did the resurrection from the dead. Yet, my brothers, I do not consider myself to have arrived spiritually, nor do I consider myself already perfect, but I keep going on. grasping ever more firmly that purpose for which Christ grasped me. My brothers, I do not consider myself to have fully grasped it even now. But I do concentrate on this. I leave the past behind, and with hands outstretched to whatever lies ahead, I go straight for the goal. My reward, the honor of being called by God in Christ. Many others may be old, declared, I have read in Plato and in Cicero sayings that are very wise and very beautiful, but I never read in either of them. Come unto me, and I will give you rest. If you trust Christ as your Savior, he'll change your ambitions. He'll change you. He'll give you joy, peace, rest. We have a
