Good morning, time again for moments of melody. This is your invitation to be our guest for the next five minutes. Some years ago, a London newspaper told a story of a strange poisonous tree in Chile. This odd but inviting bit of vegetation grew by the side of a busy road. Travelers frequently stopped to rest under its inviting shade, and many took a brief nap. When the sleepers awoke, however, they would find that their arms and face had swollen from the poison which fell in a fine mist from the leaves. Prolonged contact with the tree usually proved fatal, and yet for years no one bothered to destroy this dangerous tree. You know, evil habits are like that. Sometimes they seem so harmless. We say, oh, I can stop that whenever I feel like it. But they defile. They poison. Until sometimes it's too late. And then there are good habits. In our reading today, we'll learn about one of those good habits. The memories of the angel sent from somewhere to my soul. Thou they linger ever near me, and the sacred past unfold. how they linger, how they ever flood my soul, in the stillness of the midnight. the power How they linger, how they ever flood my soul, in the stillness of the midnight. The Gospel according to Dr. Luke. Jesus came back to Galilee with the power of the Spirit upon him. Word of him went round through all the neighboring countries. He began to preach in their synagogues so that his praise went on all men's lips. Then he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. And he went into the synagogue there, as the custom was, on the Sabbath day and stood up to read. Lord Jesus had precious memories of those days in Nazareth. On the Sabbath, it was his custom to go into the synagogue. This was the Jewish place of worship. There he was on the Lord's day. It's a good habit to be in God's house on his day.
