Charlie Brown is walking away from a ball game, and he looks very sad and dejected. He says, good grief. He looks up into the sky. One hundred and eighty four to nothing. He looks on and says, I don't understand it. Now he continues to walk home, and he has these words. How can we lose when we're so sincere? But you did lose, Charlie Brown. It takes more than sincerity to win. It's winning that counts. A lot of sincere people have lost ball games and other things, like even heaven. For example, if sincerity alone could get you to heaven, then why does the Bible say, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shall be saved? Why did Jesus Christ himself say, no man cometh to the Father but by me? Sincerity can't forgive sins, but Jesus Christ can. Sincerity can't pay the penalty for sin, but Jesus Christ did. Sincerity can't give you the gift of eternal life, but Jesus Christ will, if you trust him to be your savior. Inside those pearly gates, Jesus and loved ones wait. This is why I want to go. I'll meet my father and my mother, my sister and my brother, praying through all eternity. But best of all, I'll see my Savior and share his blessed favor. This is why I want to go. River of light there flows, sadness unknown, I'm told, all of our burdens he will share. Living and basking in sunlight that shines from him, this is why I want to go. This is why I want to go. This is why. Dr. Luke begins his gospel by relating events that happened to Zachariah and Elizabeth. They had no children, Elizabeth was barren, and both were now well advanced in years. He then, as it happened, was doing a priest's duty before God in the order of his turn of office, and had been chosen by lot, as was the custom among the priests, to go into the sanctuary of the Lord and burn incense there, while a whole multitude of people stood praying without at the hour of sacrifice.
