Good morning, everyone. A very cordial welcome to Moments of Melody, five minutes of pearls and parables to help you begin your day. Napoleon once said, Alexander, Caesar, Charlemagne, and I myself have founded great empires. But upon what does these, do these depend? Upon force. Jesus alone founded his empire upon love, and to this day millions would die for him. I would love to tell you what I think of Jesus, since I found in him a friend so strong and true. I would tell you how he changed my life completely. He did something that no other friend could do. No one ever cared for me like he. There's no other friend so kind as he. No one else could take the sin and darkness from me. Oh, how much he cared for me. Here are a few verses from the sacred scriptures at the beginning of the day. We're reading from the translation of Monsignor Ronald Knox. This translation has the imprimatur of Francis Cardinal Spellman. The Gospel according to St. John, chapter two, verse thirteen. And now the Paschal Feast, which the Jews keep, was drawing near. And so Jesus went up to Jerusalem. In the temple was found the merchants selling oxen and sheep and pigeons and money changers sitting at their trade. So he made a kind of whip out of cords and drove them out. With their sheep and oxen out of the temple, spilling the bankers' coins and overthrowing their tables. And he said to the pigeon sellers, Take these away. Do not turn my father's house into a place of barter. His disciples remembered how it was written, I am consumed with jealousy for the honor of thy house. Then the Jews answered him, What sign canst thou show us as I warrant for doing this? Jesus answered them, Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up again. To which the Jews said, This temple took forty and six years to build. Will thou raise it up in three days? The temple of which he was speaking was his own body. When he had risen from the dead, his disciples remembered his saying this and learned to believe in the Scriptures and in the words that Jesus had spoken. At this paschal season, while he was in Jerusalem for the feast, there were many who came to believe in his name upon seeing the miracles which he did. would not give them his confidence. He had knowledge of them all, did not need assurance about any man, because he could read men's hearts. Friends, you've been listening to Moments of Melody.
