Beloved radio, friends, we greet you in the precious name of our beloved and blessed Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. We welcome you to the study of God's precious Word, relative to the blessed person of Christ, whom we are seen to present in those wonderful revelations we find concerning him from the Word of God. The deep and the earnest desire of the heart is that you might know and that I may know this great person, the Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, the greatest one in the universe of God's creation, we might know him, who he is, what he is, for the eternal blessing and joy of our souls. We are at the present time considering the blessed revelation concerning the incarnation of the Son of God. touching upon that basic foundation of Christianity's truth that the Son of God became flesh and took upon him our humanity for the redemption of the human race. We will continue concerning that blessed incarnation to follow the scriptures. And today we would like to begin reading in the epistle of Paul to the Hebrews chapter two, where in chapter two, Verses sixteen and seventeen. God, by inspiration through the servant, writes to say concerning Christ, verily he took not on him the nature of angels, but he took upon him the seed of Abraham. Wherefore in all things it behooved him to be made like unto his brethren, and thus We have again from the lips and the writings of the beloved Apostle Paul the confirmation that he who was very God took upon him, the seed of Abraham's generation, to be made like unto his human brethren. Now may I point out something very obvious and precious to realize. He passed by the angelic realm. He did not take upon him. an angelic personality. But he went lower than the angels to come down to where you and I, my beloved friend, you and I in our sinful, wretched condition by nature, under the darkness of sin and the power of Satan's tyranny, were thus dwelling in need of redemption and deliverance. And in order to redeem us, he took upon him the nature of man. And what a joy to realize, though sinless and pure and holy, without spot, without blemish. He was made in the likeness of humanity. You will perhaps notice very carefully, the writer to the Hebrews declares he took upon him the seed of Abraham. Beloved, you that know your Bible can trace from the beginning of the book of Genesis and through that Christ was to come. through the seed of Abraham, from the seed of the woman in the Garden of Eden, when spoken by God in chapter three of the book of Genesis and verse fifteen, regarding the fact the seed of the woman would crush the head of Satan, the serpent. And yet as you follow the genealogy, you come down to Abraham, you come down to Isaac, you come down to Jacob, and you go on all down to history of the children of Israel, and what do you find? You find in all the prophecies of Scripture that the one who is to be the Messiah of Israel, the one who is to be the deliverer of all the world, must come and did come through the seed of Abraham. And thus Paul confirms the fact he was made like unto his brethren. But we would like to begin a consideration. Very interesting, and I hope you follow it clearly and carefully. It is Luke, the apostle who writes the Gospel of Luke, who presents the historical facts relative to his incarnation in regard to his conception and in regard to his birth. Please let me repeat what I've stated in substance. In the Gospel of Luke chapter one, I commend the reading of the entire section, if you will follow it, beginning at verse twenty-six. Going down through verse thirty-five, it is Luke, the beloved apostle, the beloved physician, who writes concerning the historical record of the conception as well as the birth of the Son of God when he came to the earth. Now may I carefully, prayerfully, seriously consider with you the amazing fact. Luke was a doctor. He's called in the Scriptures the beloved physician. And I'm wondering, Luke must have had conversations with Mary, the mother of Jesus. And from the account we have in his gospel, he records without question of doubt details that may have, I do not say they were positively, but may have been implied and given to him through his acquaintance with Mary, the mother of Jesus. But nevertheless, best of all and more than all, Luke was writing by divine inspiration, and he writes concerning the angel Gabriel, being sent from God onto a city of Galilee named Nazareth to a virgin who was espoused to one who was called Joseph of the house of David, and a virgin's name was Mary. Now may I point out, first of all, Luke in great detail mentions, as he tells of the coming birth of Jesus to Mary, and she questions how it can be done. Let me raise what she raises in verse thirty-four. Mary said unto the angel, How shall this be? Seeing I know not a man, beloved, let me say, with delight, as well as with emphasis, she was a pure virgin. And we know from the prophecy of Scripture, from Isaiah chapter seven and verse fourteen, The prophet long ago wrote hundreds of years previously, A virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and his name shall be called Emmanuel. Now may I emphasize, I must, the Word of God does so, the virgin character of Mary, who became the mother of Jesus, when God's Son came to the earth to be born into our humanity. Rightfully she questions the angel. How can it take place? What you're telling me. I know not a man. She was not even married to Joseph as yet. Then the angel answered, and please note carefully, and I want you to note it, for this is relative to his conception, the conception of his humanity. The angel answered and said unto her in verse thirty-five, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the highest shall overshadow thee. Therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. Now I want you to note directly the emphasis that it was in the power of the highest by the Holy Ghost. the conception would take place. You have the confirmation of this when you read Matthew chapter one and verse twenty. Where to Joseph himself, when he found his spouse, his betrothed virgin, was already with child before they came together. And he thought of pulling away his betrothed wife. thinking her, of course, to be an immoral person, when the angel also, Gabriel, revealed to him, fear not Joseph, fear not to take unto thee Mary as thy wife. That which is conceived of her is of the Holy Ghost. Now, beloved, let me be very careful. Let me be very specific. Consider the conception. It is not human conception. but miraculously and divinely by the power of the Holy Spirit. In the womb of the Virgin Mary was our Blessed Lord, in his humanity, conceived. May I also repeat, there are two verses, in fact there's one verse that has been re-quoted. You'll find the original verse in Psalm forty and verse six. You'll find it recorded in Hebrews chapter ten and verse five. And I will encourage you to read Hebrews chapter ten. And as you go from verse five and on, you'll read a divine conversation. And a divine conversation can be none other than one between God the Father and God the Son. And within the context of that scripture, if you will read in Hebrews chapter ten, you will hear the Son confessing that he is coming to the earth to do the will of his Father. And by the which will he would provide redemption. But in that conversation, listen to these words that he declares. To the Father he declares. A body hath thou prepared me. Excuse me, let me quote again. Let me emphasize. He declares, A body hath thou prepared me. It was not human preparation. It was the preparation of divine power from God above by the power of the Spirit of God Himself. the one who is co-equal and co-eternal in the Godhead with God the Son and God the Father. And God the Son acknowledges the body he was to take would be prepared by divine means, not human, in the womb of the Virgin Mary. Oh, that blessed conception, we must confess it. Beloved, I would ask you, don't try to explain it to me. You cannot explain it. Listen, if you and I are going to believe what God says in the word of God, concerning his son, we must accept it on the ground of faith and believe it. And may I say, The importance of the incarnation of Christ demands, we believe, in His holy conception by the power of the highest, the Holy Spirit. Oh, blessed Father, oh, we pray earnestly that these blessed deep secrets beyond our comprehension may be a blessing to every heart to make the person of Christ more precious to every soul.
