On a note of Thanksgiving, this is Moments of Melody. The word Thanksgiving has two parts, gratitude and generosity. Gratitude for the blessings of God, generosity for others. That's the way it was in the first Thanksgiving. Despite incredible hardships, the Pilgrims celebrated their first harvest in sixteen twenty one by setting aside a day for Thanksgiving. They worshipped God in a service of gratitude, and they shared generously with the American Indians in joyful feasting. Provisions were meager, generosity was abundant. Thanks and giving.
