Thank you. Greetings, friends. Exodus chapter twelve, and we'll read verse twelve again. The statement here by the Lord when he said, The Lord God, I am the Lord, is in connection with the Passover in Egypt when judgment was meted out to all those who were not in a special class. And that special class was open to everybody who wished to be in that special class. And the special class were those who obeyed the word of God, who took a lamb on the tenth of the month and kept it to the fourteenth day of the month, saw that there were no blemishes in it and no blemishes on it, and then it was slain, and its blood was shed, and its blood was to be caught in abation. And it would be applied to the outside of the door, the two-side post, and the little over the top of the door. And then the people were to go inside the house, inside the door, and they were to eat the roast lamb with their shoes on, their clothes on, girded, ready to travel. For at midnight, there was going to be a terrible crime made in Egypt, because the older... of man and beast would be slain unless they were sheltered by the blood on the outside of the door, where God would pass over the door and not suffer the destroying angel to enter in to take the life of the firstborn, the oldest in the family, and the oldest in the animals as well. This is true grave. to pass by without stopping again and taking a look. Why was it that some escaped, especially Egypt, Israel escaped because they believed God, they listened to what God had to say, and they obeyed it by getting the Lamb, by taking it and shedding its blood. And then putting the blood, as the Lord described it, and directed them on the door, outside, so that the people inside were sheltered by the blood of the Lamb. For God did not say to them, I'll pass over you when I see you're sincere. They had to be sincere, or they wouldn't have taken the lamb out of the flock. He didn't say, when I see that you have done well, you have good work, I'll pass over you. No, he did not say, when I observe that you are quite steadfast, and that you treat your neighbors right, then I'll pass over you. No, my friends, this is not it. They could have been all of that, and still the firstborn would have been slain, because that was not the way of salvation that night, nor is it the way of salvation today. It was incumbent upon the Israelites to be a good citizen, to be a good neighbor, to be a good father, to live righteously. They had to do so, or under the law they would have been... condemned by the law, and judgment would have been meted out to them under the law. And so it's for this purpose we return to Exodus chapter twelve. And verse twelve tells us, God's saying to them, For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast, And against all the gods of this Egypt, I will execute judgment. I am the Lord. And the blood shall be to you for a token. Here is a promise. Here is a provision. Here is insurance. Here is assurance. Here is everything that you need for satisfaction and for being convinced. The blood shall be for a token unto the houses where ye are, and when I see the blood I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you when I smite the land of Egypt. Now, what made the great distinction in this Passover day? It was, friend, that the blood was applied on the outside of the door. A personal application. Now the blood in the basin was a part of the program. They were to catch the blood of the lamb in a basin. But, my friends, the blood in the basin would not have saved one Israelite. The blood must be applied to the door, the two side posts and the top piece, the lintel, over the door. It had to be placed there by a person, a personal application. Now, the lesson is simple, friends. Salvation is in the Bible, especially the New Testament, how that the Lord Jesus died for our sins according to the Scriptures. And they were buried, and he rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. There is everything in the Bible that man needs for his soul, salvation for eternity. But, my friends, as long as it stays in the Bible, and there isn't any personal application to the individual, then that individual will not ever be saved. The blood in the basin wouldn't save the oldest in that home. There had to be a taking of the blood and applying it to the door, the lintel and the two-side post. My friends, have you ever read the Scriptures? Have you ever determined from the Scriptures you need the Savior? And have you ever believed the Scriptures through the Holy Spirit that the Lord Jesus shed his blood on the cross, his personal blood on the cross, to put your sins away? All the good works in the world are wonderful, but there won't save a single soul. We must, by faith, accept the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, and that would be answering to the blood applied to the door, and that soul is saved for all eternity. Thankly, Father, for thy precious word. We pray that many souls will accept us, Savior, and pass from death to thy. Bless our country, our President, and all who in authority, and every man, and all our great country, and the world over, for sake of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
